Shomrei Torah

With experienced leadership, an active membership of approximately 300 families, and with programs and services for members of all ages, Congregation Shomrei Torah is considered by many to be the center of Jewish life in Fair Lawn.
Led by Rabbi Andrew Markowitz and Rabbi Benjamin Yudin, Rabbi Emeritus, Shomrei Torah offers a warm, welcoming environment and is an ideal place for those looking to join a vibrant Jewish community. There is a large Eruv, a Mikvah located within the Shomrei Torah building, and several Shabbos morning minyanim including a Young Couple’s minyan. Shomrei Torah is a member synagogue of the OU.
For families with school age children, the Fair Lawn area presents several great elementary school choices, including: Yavneh Academy; The Rosenbaum Yeshiva of North Jersey; Yeshivat Noam; and The Moriah School as well as high schools which include The Frisch School, Ma’ayanot Yeshiva High School for Girls, and Torah Academy of Bergen County (TABC).

Shomrei Torah offers programs for members of all ages. From Shabbos groups and Teen minyan, to daily morning and evening learning programs for men and women, there are always opportunities to learn, grow, and make friends within our walls.
There are attractive apartments available for rent within walking distance to Shomrei Torah, and Fair Lawn has houses that are among the most affordable of any Jewish community in Bergen County. Located just a 20 minute drive from Manhattan, and with express train and bus service for those commuting to New York City, Fair Lawn is ideally located. A family friendly suburb with beautiful parks and a centrally located Shabbos park, Fair Lawn is close to upscale shopping and in addition to having several kosher establishments in town, is just a few minutes drive to many more.
