High Holiday Seats

Dear Members & Friends,

Rosh Hashanah 5781 will be observed on Shabbat and Sunday, September 19th and 20th 2020.

Yom Kippur begins Sunday evening, September 27th. We are looking forward to a meaningful and spiritual Yamim Noraim together.

In order to provide a safe, meaningful experience for everyone in attendance, we are making several changes to our usual processes and procedures. We ask for your patience and understanding as we navigate this new environment.

Seats for all minyanim will be sold online and through the mail.  Minyanim will tentatively take place indoors (both upstairs and downstairs) as well as in outdoor locations. We will also be offering earlier and later minyan times for Shacharit and Musaf to accommodate the many needs of our community. When submitting your request, please indicate if you wish to sit indoors or outdoors and your preferred minyan time. We will do our best to honor requests for seating in specific locations indoors, however seating capacity in each of our locations is significantly reduced. We ask for your flexibility and understanding.

We will be unable to provide childcare this year.

Due to the increased complexity of assigning seats this year, all seat reservations must be submitted by September 8, 2020. We will not accept reservations submitted after this date. Additionally, seating will not be available to anyone who has not made a reservation.

The income from the sale of High Holiday Seats provides critical funds needed to operate the shul, both during the holiday season and throughout the year. As has been the case for many years, members will once again this year be entitled to seats at a reduced rate.

Seat Prices

Members                                          Not-Yet-Members

Adults $150                                       Adults $225

Children $50                                     Children $75

Children pricing is for those under 18 on August 31, 2020. Parents are asked to use their best judgement and to only bring children who can sit with them throughout the service.

In advance of purchasing holiday seats, we do ask that you settle any outstanding charges on your account or set up a payment plan to settle your account. Payment of account charges can be made by logging into your account online or mailing a check to the shul. To request a copy of your account statement, please call the shul office at 201-791-7910 or email office@shomrei-torah.org. If you have any questions about your account please contact David Heiser (dbh454@gmail.com).

We are pleased to offer several payment options for seats and membership dues this year:

Option 1: Pay all seat charges and membership dues ($1,050 for families, $525 for single) at the time of your reservation.

Option 2: Pay all seat charges and half of your membership dues ($525 for families, $262.50 for single) at the time of your reservation. Please note the remainder of dues is due by January 1, 2021.

Option 3: Setup a recurring monthly payment online for your seat charges and membership dues.

If financial hardship is an issue, please contact Danny Pickett via email at president@shomrei-torah.org. Please be assured that all requests will be treated with the utmost respect, understanding and confidentiality.

Please submit your seat reservations using one of the following methods:

  • Complete and submit the online form below. When ordering seats on line, you must log in to your account (if you do not have a log in, we urge you to create one.) If you have any trouble creating a login, or logging into an existing account, please contact the shul office at office@shomrei-torah.org
  • Download and print a seating request form by clicking HERE. Fill it out and mail it to: Shomrei Torah Seating Committee, 19-10 Morlot Ave. Fair Lawn, NJ 07410.

Paper seating request forms will not be available for pickup in the shul lobby this year.

Permanent seat holders must also complete the form online or return it by mail along with applicable dues and payment for other existing account charges. Due to this year’s unique circumstances, we are unable to guarantee permanent seat holders their regular seats.

Details regarding safety protocols and other logistical issues for the Yamim Noraim will be sent soon. Rabbi Markowitz will also host a town hall event to discuss these issues in greater detail.

If you have any questions about seating, please email Josh Ricklis (jricklis@gmail.com). If you have questions about other logistical aspects for the Yamin Noraim, please email Danny Pickett (president@shomrei-torah.org).

Sincerely,

Josh Ricklis
