Congregation Shomrei Torah / Young Families

Shomrei Torah has been enjoying a resurgence of new young families over the past few years.  One can hardly keep up with the dizzying array of new faces that come through the doors every Shabbos.  Fair Lawn is a most affordable and attractive option for those who are interested in a warm and welcoming Jewish community in Bergen County. 

For singles, young couples, and young families looking for a community where they can really feel part of a large family, this is a great town.   There are many opportunities to get involved and make a difference, not just be a number.  Many of the young people routinely socialize outside of shul.  Some of the many activities have included day trips to the Poconos, Game Nights and apple picking. 

If  you have small children, Bergen County is filled with kid-friendly activities for all ages:  Van Saun Park and Bergen County Zoo, the New Jersey Children’s Museum,  Flat Rock Brook Nature Center,  storytime and activity hours at the Fair Lawn library,  as well as at Barnes and Noble and Borders bookstores.  There is a plethora of classes for the littlest ones including Music Together, Kindermusik,  Gymboree,  the Little Gym and a vast array of programs at the Bergen County YJCC and JCC on the Palisades.

 The Young Couples Club provides an opportunity to meet and get acquainted with others, an atmosphere of friendliness, goodwill and helpful information, and a means for people with like interests to identify each other and join together for activities of mutual interest.
