Sefer Torah Dedication
Sefer Torah Dedication
We are excited about the upcoming Sefer Torah dedication to Shomrei Torah by Mrs. Estelle Bloom (Jay Bloom's Mother) in memory of her son Chanan Bloom on Sunday, April 27th at11:30AM.
Since the mitzvah of writing a Sefer Torah is something that not everyone can personally fulfill, it is customary to share this mitzvah by offering opportunities to participate on this great occasion in many meaningful ways.
The sofer will be in the shul Sunday morning April 27th from 8:45AM to 10:30AM to complete the writing of the Torah with the help of our Shomrei Torah family.
Dedications for the actual writing are available as follows:
For a major portion such as a Bar Mitzvah Parsha, Parshas Bereishis, Parshas Yisro, Parshas Beshalach, Parshas Chayei Sarah, and others – $720
For a special portion such as Oz Yeshhir, Aseres Hadibros, Chasan Bereishis, Chasan Torah, the Shema, others - $540
Amud (column) - $360
Pasuk (sentence) - $150
Word - $100
Letter - $36
Other dedication opportunities are as follows: (These all include inscriptions)
Shabbat Torah Cover - Reserved
High Holiday Torah Cover - Reserved
Torah Binder (Gartel) for High Holidays - $150
Torah Binder ( Gartel) for year round - $150
Torah Crown - $3,000
Breastplate - Reserved
The Yad (pointer) - $550
As is our custom, we will escort the new Torah with music and fanfare from Lori Lane (Off of Morlot Avenue) to the shul, on Sunday April 27thth at 11:00 AM. There will be a brief dedication ceremony followed by a Seudas Mitzvah in our Social Hall.
Please respond as soon as possible so that the scribe will know how many letters/words will be needed for completion and we will be able to arrange for the inscriptions on the dedicated items to be completed in time for the April 27th program.
