Why Shomrei Torah ? Why Fair Lawn ?
Shomrei Torah and Fair Lawn at a glance…
Over the last several years, the Shomrei Torah family has seen tremendous growth through the influx of young families, both renting and buying homes.

The reasons that families are moving to Shomrei Torah and Fair Lawn are clear…
Shomrei Torah:
- Is established: Having an active membership of approximately 300 families, Shomrei Torah provides the full infrastructure that young families need, including Shabbas groups, a nursery school, a mikveh, and established and respected leadership, led by Rabbi Benjamin Yudin and Rabbi Andrew Markowitz.
- Is growing: With a flourishing Young Couple’s Shabbas minyan, new families are moving in all the time. Visit for a Shabbas, hang around the kiddush, and re-meet all the people you didn’t realize moved to Fair Lawn. Just remember where you parked your child’s stroller, as there are so many…
- Is welcoming: Shomrei Torah takes it’s chesed seriously. Shabbas invites are the norm, and the parade of meals provided to new mom’s never ends. Those new to the shul are offered discounted membership which includes credits for shul events.
- Is unique and diverse: Shomrei Torah is big enough to have 5 different Shabbas morning minyanim to choose from, but small enough to be a place where you can know nearly everybody and build close bonds with people both in your age group and outside of it.
Fair Lawn:
- Is affordable: Those looking to buy a home will find lovely houses with yards in one of the most affordable Jewish communities in the area. For those wishing to rent while they grow roots in the community, there are local and beautiful apartments of all sizes and price points including the Fair Lawn Commons, which hosts a Shabbas evening and an afternoon Shomrei Torah satellite minyan.
- Is accessible: An express train station and several bus stops allow for a quick and easy commute to all parts of Manhattan, and the 20 minute drive to NYC allows parents to sneak off for a night on the town.
- Is comfortable: With its own kosher restaurants and just 10 minutes from Teaneck and several high-end malls, Fair Lawn residents can shop and dine without filling up the gas tank. With an Eruv that spans the whole town, residents can walk to all their friends and parks and take their children ‘all about town’ on a Shabbas aftenoon.
- Is child-friendly: A centrally located Shabbas park (that hosts regular Shomrei Torah events) makes for weekly Shabbas playdates on demand. There is a town pool with a fantastic kiddie-area where you will find our youngest members on hot summer days, and a town Recreation Center that hosts youth athletics and cultural events. Just a few minutes from many Yeshiva Day Schools, Fair Lawn allows for easy busing or car-pooling when it’s time to get back to the books..
