Rabbi Markowitz

Rabbi Andrew Markowitz is proud to be the Assistant Rabbi at Congregation Shomrei Torah.

Currently teaching in Yeshivat Noam Middle School, Rabbi Markowitz was a member of Yeshiva University’s Beren Kollel Elyon program, and received semicha from RIETS in 2010. Rabbi Markowitz studied in the Gruss Kollel in Yerushalayim, and while there, received ordination from the Machon Puah institute.  During his time in YU, he initiated a nightly BMP learning program and served as the Shabbos Rabbi in the Rubin Shul. He has spent summers in Camp Lavi and Mesorah being the assistant to the Rosh Kollel and giving daily classes to both the kollel and to campers as well. In addition, he has served as the Alumni Director for Yeshivot Torat Shraga and Reishit Yerushalyim coordinating events and opening up his household weekly for classes.

While living in Israel for two years, his wife, Sara Markowitz served as the Program Director for MMY Seminary and helped initiate a Midrashiya program for women in the Gruss kollel, Yerushalayim. Sara has been a division head in Camp Mesorah and Lavi for 4 summers and has worked as the special events coordinator in Camp Lavi for 2 sessions. She also served the NCSY New Jersey region as Educational Coordinator.

The Markowitz’s are the proud parents of three daughters.
